I would like to take this opportunity to introduce the newest member of =
the
Section Cabinet. He is Eric Rademacher, KC9AVP. Eric has agreed to =
take on
the responsibility of being the Affiliated Club Coordinator. Eric is a =
second
generation ham, licensed in 2002 and now is enjoying general class =
privileges.
He is also lucky to have most of his family as licensed amateurs. His =
wife,
Sharon, is KC9BFB, and his two daughters Aerial and Stephanie are KV9BKU =
and
KC9BKV. His two sons Daniel and Samuel need to learn to read first. =
Eric is
looking forward to working with all the clubs in the section to improve =
their
visability in their areas, and if the club is interested in becoming
affiliated with ARRL he will help in that process. He will also help a =
club
achieve Special Service Club status. Eric and his wife will be on a =
fishing
trip to Lake of Egypt and he would like to take this opportunity to meet =
with
the hams in that area on May 3rd. If you can meet with him on that date =
send
him an email at [email protected]. If you are around the northern =
Illinois area
you can find Eric on the KB9I repeater 145.41. Welcome aboard, Eric! I =
know
that you will be a valuable member to the section.

We also have a new DEC for northeastern Illinois. He is Rob Sobkoviak, =
K9NYO.
Rob is also the Will County EC. He has been busy coordinating hams in =
the
area with the National Weather Service so that we will have dependable
communications when severe weather comes. Recently Rob appointed Wyant
"Woody" Niswonger, KB9YBK, and Phil Rittenhouse, NW9V, as SKYWARN =
Coordinators
for the northeast district of the Illinois ARES. Woody and Phil will be
acting as liaisons between ARES and the National Weather Service =
forecasting
office in Romeoville (which serves the northeast district of Illinois =
ARES and
then some). They have been enlisted by the NWS to be available to =
operate the
amateur radio station in Romeoville as well as coordinate additional
volunteers.

Congratulations goes out to Maurice Schietecartte, W9CEO, on his =
appointment
as HF Awards Manager for the Fox River Radio League, an ARRL Special =
Service
Club. As such, he will be responsible for validating WAS and 5-band WAS
applications for his area. He has accepted a heavy responsibility in
maintaining the intregrity of this prestigious award. Good luck, =
Maurice, and
thank you for taking on this important task.

Woody Hester, WD9F, is the net manager of the Illinois Training Net =
(ITN). It
is a CW traffic net and they train operators for ILN, 9RN and other
independant nets. He reports that they have holes in the coverage of =
Illinois
and he would like to do some serious recruiting. Are you interested? =
