Here is an update on my son's radio problem.  Being a Coast Guard =
veteran and former USCG radioman, he is familiar with the maritime =
frequencies.  Lives in the state of Vermont, in the Green mountains.  If =
any of you know of the type of marine radio he is interested in, let me =
know.

Dad,
  I found a dealer in Burlington who was super helpful.  I've decided to =
give up.  Battery replacement was $80.  When I took the unit apart it =
had one crystal, a 142.1 mhz that is strictly a navy freq.  Crystal =
replacement was nearly $30/ea.  I need at least 3 freqs.  Repair of unit =
if needed was $48/hr.  So, I've learned something, but at a price.  I =
have decided to continue to shop around and do without this year.  If =
you come across a VHF hand held or other marine radio with chnls 16, 22a =
and another wking freq, please advise.
  I went four wheeling last night up on the ridge and ran into a moose.  =
He just stood and stared then ambled off.  Boy was I muddy when I got =
home.
  Eli and I have started preps for the fishing trip.  We caught 6 doz. =
nightcrawlers Sun. night, we are prepping the boat and making lists.  My =
buddy Mike is going with us since Stuart has ball games this weekend and =
finals Mon/Tues. Boy is he upset.
