Well, our field day wen't pretty good. We oporated 2A (had 4 stations....
CW, SSB, GOTA, and UHF/VHF). GOTA and UHF/VHF stations don't count... :)
We made about 500 contacts on SSB (I operated here most of the night...
would you believe 15 meters stayed open until well past midnight !!!!)
We made about 400 UHF/VHF contact (mostly 6 and 2 meter SSB)
We made the max of 400 contacts on the GOTA station.
We made in excess of 1500 contacts on CW.
Should be one hell of a score... :)
The antenna's we used were about 150 feet up on top of a city water tower
(the higher the better :) even if I was the tower leader... not sure I wanna
climb that thing again) The GOTA and SSB station both had 10-40 beam
antenna's, plus the SSB station had a 80 meter sloper off the tower. The CW
station was using a G5RV sloper from the top of the tower. The UHF/VHF
station had a 2m/440 colinaer vertical, a 6m yagi, and a 2m boomer. I don't
know how you guys faired here, but 6m stayed open for a LONG time.
For power we used a 3500 watt generator. It worked great, except for the
bad batch of gas we put in it at the 8pm refueiling. The thing decided it
wanted to die about ever 45 minutes, until it got low enough to where we
could dump it, and start over.
Each station has a computer at it for logging. This helped out A LOT for
dupes.
We also had a bunch of the XYL's and GF's cooking all night for us (I don't
even want to look at another hot dog for a while).
In case you want to look for our score... I operated with the Schaumburg
Amateur Radio Club (I joined... sorry, didn't want to go more than a year
without being in a club) as N9RJV.
AS A SIDE NOTE.... WHILE I WAS OPERATING SSB, I CONTACTED N9EM !!!! Thanks
for the contact Ted... even though I swear it was a female I talked to...
I'm glad you guys did good. Hopefully I will talk to some of you soon.

I would think that the handicapped parking spots at the Special Olympics are
in pretty high demand. You probably have to get there pretty early in the
morning to grab one of them.
