Don, KA9SQB, was the first to answer the trivial question.  During the
evening of January 27, 1967, the crew of Apollo 1 was killed by a flash
fire aboard their spacecraft during testing at Cape Kennedy.  Jerry,
KB9DEH, also knew the answer.  But he cheated by looking it up on the
internet.

I was also going to mention, but forgot, that tomorrow is the 16th
anniversary of another space tragedy; the explosion of the Space Shutter
Challenger 73 seconds after lift off killing the entire crew.
