THERE IS A SLIGHT RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS LATE TONIGHT INTO
WEDNESDAY. THE PRIMARY THREAT WILL BE DAMAGING WINDS.
SOUTHERLY WINDS WILL PUMP MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIR INTO THE LOW
LEVELS OF THE ATMOSPHERE TODAY...SETTING THE STAGE FOR THUNDERSTORMS.
A COLD FRONT NOW DEVELOPING IN THE PLAINS WILL BEGIN TO PUSH INTO
THE MIDWEST THIS EVENING...DRIVEN EASTWARD BY A STRONG UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE. THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ALONG THIS FRONT LATE
TONIGHT OVER WESTERN IOWA...PUSHING INTO EASTERN IOWA AND NORTHEAST
MISSOURI TOWARD MORNING IN THE FORM OF A SQUALL LINE. THE STORM SYSTEM
WILL CONTINUE INTO WESTERN ILLINOIS WEDNESDAY MORNING.
WITH PLENTY OF INSTABILITY...STRONG UPPER SUPPORT...AND THE LOW LEVEL
JET...THUNDERSTORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WINDS.
SPOTTERS AND EMERGENCY MANAGERS SHOULD STAY TUNED FOR UPDATED
FORECASTS...AND BE PREPARED FOR POSSIBLE ACTIVATION LATE TONIGHT INTO
WEDNESDAY MORNING.

This evening, April 23rd, at 7:00 pm, severe weather and
tornado spotter training will be conducted in Blue Grass, Iowa (Scott
County) at the Fire Department. This is a free 2 hour class. For
