SIGNIFICANT WEATHER OUTLOOK

...SNOW SHOWERS TODAY...

SURFACE HIGH PRESSURE WILL BEGIN TO BUILD OVER THE REGION TODAY.
LINGERING MOISTURE WILL COMBINE WITH SOME ATMOSPHERIC INSTABILITY
TODAY TO FORM SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA.  THE SHOWERS ARE
MOST LIKELY TO OCCUR OVER FAR NORTHEAST IOWA AND NORTHWESTERN
ILLINOIS.  THESE SNOW SHOWERS ARE NOT EXPECTED TO PUT DOWN MUCH MORE
THAN A LIGHT DUSTING IN ANY LOCATION.  DUE TO JUST ABOVE FREEZING
TEMPERATURES EXPECTED AT THE SURFACE...THE SNOW WILL BE WET AND
SLOPPY.   THE SNOW SHOWERS SHOULD END BY SUNSET...AFTER WHICH THE
CLOUDS WILL BEGIN TO DECREASE ACROSS THE AREA.

TONIGHT WITH DECREASING CLOUDS AND WINDS...TEMPERATURES WILL DROP
SHARPLY INTO THE 20S...WHICH IS WELL BELOW NORMAL.  SOME PATCHY
FOG IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

SPOTTER ACTIVATION WILL NOT BE NEEDED TODAY OR TONIGHT.

UPCOMING SPOTTER TRAINING CLASSES:

April 4, 2002:  Muscatine, IA, 7:00 p.m.

On Thursday, April 4th, Severe weather and tornado spotter training
will be conducted in Muscatine, Iowa (Muscatine County) at the
Public Safety Building, at 7:00 p.m.  This class will be free, and
should last about 2 hours. For additional information, contact
Muscatine County Emergency Manager, Jeff Carter, at (563) 288-2526,

promote and advertise this free class as much as possible. Thank

April 8, 2002:  Keokuk, IA, 2:00 p.m., and Fort Madison, IA, 7:00
p.m.

On Monday, April 8th, severe weather and tornado spotter training
will be conducted in Lee County, Iowa at two different locations -
at two different times.  The first class will take place in Keokuk,
Iowa at the Keokuk Area Hospital (1600 Morgan Street), at 2:00 p.m.
This class is being co-sponsored by the Keokuk Area Hospital and Lee
County Emergency Management.  The second class will take place in
Fort Madison, Iowa in Rolling Hall (2210 Avenue I), at 7:00 p.m.
This class is being co-sponsored by KHQA TV-7, Quincy, Illinois, and
Lee County Emergency Management.  Both classes will be free and
