A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for launch early Tuesday morning (July 7) from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base during a 12:10 to 1:45 a.m. PDT launch window and carry the Transporter-17 mission into orbit.

If the sky is clear, the event could be visible for several minutes over a wide area. Launch viewing may be hampered in outlying areas due to moonlight.

For a better view of the launch, use tripod-mounted binoculars or a spotting scope. An astronomical telescope with a low-power eyepiece will probably provide the best view.
