The Falcon 9 rocket launch tentatively scheduled for this morning from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. is now tentatively planned for Wednesday (February 25). The vehicle is slated to leave south base during a launch window that opens at 6:00 a.m. PST. Following liftoff, the vehicle will probably fly towards the south-southeast and roughly parallel the coast as it carries several Starlink satellites into orbit. Eight minutes after launch, the first stage will attempt to land on a drone ship positioned down range.
If the launch occurs at the start of the window, the event event could be visible over a wide area as the vehicle's exhaust plume is illuminated by the Sun while suspended in the dawn sky.
For a better view of the launch, use tripod-mounted binoculars or a spotting scope. An astronomical telescope with a low-power eyepiece will probably provide the best view.
