A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for launch Tuesday (October 14) from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base no earlier than 4:02 p.m PDT and carry the SDA Tranche 1 data transport mission into orbit. Eight minutes after launch, the first stage will attempt to land on a drone ship positioned down range.

Weather permitting, the launch could be visible to the unaided eye from as far away as 100 statute miles.
