[Launch Alert] Reentry and Splashdown Update / Launch Tonight

The Dragon / Axiom-4 spacecraft with four astronauts aboard will splash down Tuesday morning at approximately 2:31 a.m. Pacific Time at a point west of Seal Beach and south of Point Mugu, Calif. The vehicle will fly towards from the northwest to the southeast and roughly parallel the coast. It will make landfall at north Vandenberg SFB and cross back over the ocean at Gaviota.

Weather permitting, the reentry could be visible to the unaided eye from the coastal areas of southern, central, and northern California. A sonic boom may also be heard over a wide area.

Launch Tonight

A Falcon 9 rocket is tentatively scheduled for launch this evening (Monday, July 14) from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base at 7:35:30 p.m. Pacific Time and carry several Starlink satellites into orbit. Eight minutes after launch, the first stage will attempt to land on a drone ship positioned down range.

Weather permitting, the event could be visible to the unaided eye as far away as 100 statute miles.
