This evening's (May 9) launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. appears to be on schedule. The vehicle is scheduled to leave south base during an 8:20 to 10:18 p.m. PDT launch window.

If the launch occurs early in the window, observers over a wide area could be treated to an impressive display as the rocket's exhaust plume is illuminated by sunlight at high altitude while it is suspended in a dusk sky.
