A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 22 Starlink satellites was launched this evening (December 28) at 5:58:30 p.m. PST from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. Eight minutes after liftoff, the rocket's first stage landed on a downrange drone ship. SpaceX later confirmed deployment of the satellites.

The launch was probably visible over a wide area and produced a sonic boom. Liftoff was too long after sunset for the Sun to illuminate the rocket's exhaust at high altitude.
