Weather permitting, the Southwest and beyond can enjoy a celestial close encounter this evening as the Moon passes close to Jupiter while Venus shines brightly nearby. Although the objects will be in the same part of the sky, they will actually be separated by many millions of miles. To see the display, look in the west about 30 minutes after sunset.
