A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for launch Thursday evening to Friday morning (December 14-15) from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base between approximately 8:59 p.m. and 1:24 a.m. PST and carry several Starlink satellites into orbit.

Weather permitting, the event could be visible to the unaided eye for hundreds of miles for several minutes. During the first few minutes of the launch, the Falcon will produce a bright orange flame. The flame will gradually dim as the vehicle's tenuous exhaust plume appears. The plume should remain visible through the entire second stage burn.
