A Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for launch early Friday morning (December 8) from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base during a 12:00 a.m. - 2:41 a.m. PST launch window. The Falcon 9 will probably head south as it carries several Starlink satellites into orbit.
Weather permitting, the event could be visible to the unaided eye for hundreds of miles for several minutes. During the first few minutes of the launch, the Falcon will produce a bright orange flame. The flame will gradually dim as the vehicle's tenuous exhaust plume appears. The plume could remain visible through the entire second stage burn.
