A Falcon 9 rocket was successfully launched from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. last night (August 7). Following liftoff from south base at 8:57 p.m. PDT, the vehicle placed 15 Starlink satellites into orbit.

Despite the rocket being launched long after sunset, its exhaust was apparently illuminated by sunlight at high altitude during the second stage burn, producing a weak Twilight Effect.

Many observers in California who stayed outside several minutes longer were treated to an impressive flyover by 22 Starlink satellites grouped in close formation from a previous launch .
