Today's planned launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg SFB appears to be on schedule. The rocket is slated to lift off from south base at 12:18 p.m. PST and carry a classified payload into orbit. Following launch, the Falcon will probably head south as it climbs into orbit. Weather permitting, the event could be visible to the unaided eye for more than 100 miles. Observers in the coastal portions of Santa Barbara and Ventura counties will probably have the best view.
