Thursday morning's (December 15) planned launch of a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg SFB, Calif. is on schedule. The vehicle is slated to lift off from south base at 03:46:40 PST and carry the SWOT satellite into orbit.

People within several miles of the base may hear a sonic boom as the rocket's first stage returns to Vandenberg for landing. Weather permitting, the pre-dawn event could be visible over a wide area.
