                            FRIDAY LAUNCH

An Atlas V rocket is scheduled for launch this Friday from Vandenberg
AFB. The vehicle is slated to lift off from Space Launch Complex 3 on
south base during a 10:30-10:45 PST launch window.

Following liftoff, the rocket will climb vertically for several
seconds before it gradually pitches over and heads southward.

The launch should easily be visible to the naked eye up to 15 miles
away. People who know exactly where to look, may see the white
contrail from the Atlas up to 100 miles away.

Observers in western Ventura County may hear a muffled sonic boom
from the rocket several minutes after launch.
