WEDNESDAY MINUTEMAN III LAUNCH
As mentioned previously, a Minuteman III ICBM is scheduled for launch
from north Vandenberg AFB on the morning of June 22 between 03:01 and
09:01 PDT.
In past Minuteman III launches from Vandenberg, the Air Force has
tried to launch at the instant the launch window opens. However, a
launch can be delayed by problems at Vandenberg or downrange and can
happen at any time during the six hour window.
If Wednesday's launch occurs before dawn, the view may be hindered
somewhat by the Moon, which will be 60% illuminated. The biggest
problem for many observers will probably be the presence of early
morning low clouds along the coast. For a clear view near the coast,
you will probably have to find a viewing location 3,000 feet or higher
above sea level.
