                           DELTA II LAUNCH
                     Vandenberg AFB News Release

Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. – Vandenberg AFB is set to launch a
Boeing Delta II rocket at 1 p.m., Dec. 14.  The rocket will carry a
payload for the National Reconnaissance Office.

Col. Jack Weinstein, 30th Space Wing commander, is the spacelift
commander, or final "go for launch" authority, for this mission. The
30th Space Wing is the Air Force Space Command organization
responsible for all Department of Defense space and missile launch
activities on the West Coast of the United States.

                           LAUNCH WEATHER

The launch weather forecast released to the news media this morning is
calling for cloudcover consisting of stratus 6/8ths from 500 to 1,500
feet and cirrus 4/8ths from 26,000 to 30,000 feet (in other words a
partial low cloud layer and a partial high cloud layer). The
probability of acceptable weather at launch time is 60%.
