                    CORRECTION TO IAPETUS VISIBLE

The last issue of Launch Alert had an item on observing Saturn's moon
Iapetus tonight. It erroneously implied that north is at that the top
of the field of view as seen through telescopes that invert the image.
The opposite is the case and the paragraph in question should have
said:

"Assuming your telescope inverts images and south is at the top, look
for Saturn's bright moon Titan in the foreground at the 8 o'clock
position about 75 arc seconds from the planet. The much fainter
Iapetus should be immediately to right of Titan and slightly below
it."

By the way, I observed Saturn on Saturday night through my 8-inch
telescope and the view was magnificent. Although the sky is no longer
that dark at my location (I can barely see the summer Milky Way), I
was able to spot Iapetus. It was so faint I could barely see it, but
it was there.
