Hi Folks,

Newbie here. A long time ago at a military surplus auction, I saw a large number of high power laser equipment.
Among the equipment were some precision cast or machined, aluminum blocks with passages that contained and aligned
the high power laser optic glassware. The polished aluminum blocks as I recall were anodized a dark color. They had water pasages, in them and water plumbing couplings in and out. I am getting into high power SSPAs for moonbounce applications, which now use extremely high power devices (> 1KW RF output) and very low efficiency, as low as 25 percent. Huge heat sinks, heat plates, laser polished interfaces, large
fins, high power air blowers. A similar unit, with a single package LDMOS device was used at Arecibo Moonbounce last year.
Can the surplus laser water coolers in aluminum packages be effectively employed to cool KW amounts of heat from a SSPA?

Best Regards,
