FAO Stuart (G8CYW),
Hi Stuart,
I have been following your postings with interest and should like to ask a couple of questions if I may.
You mention that you are using sub-carriers and if I understand correctly these are of low frequency. You also mention the use of SSB so would I be correct in thinking that you are up-converting/down-converting the transmitted/received signals in order to use commercial SSB equipment? Or do you use KGK SDR software or something similar??
I wonder which part of the Northern UK you are in? Anywhere near IO93oj ?? We performed a few experiments with laser comms back in 2002 but the chap I was working with moved to another location beyond line-of-sight reach Hi.
I would also be interested to know what LED devices you use for TX and if they are available in the UK. The use of lasers is much less attractive now that "Robin Hood" airport is on my doorstep, shining lasers towards the horizon may not be a good idea anymore at this QTH.
Finally, do you have a website or blog page I could follow?
