OK, well it's my fault for starting an uproar about proper use of fresnels and LEDs/lasers, and it wasnt really the point i meant to make a few days ago, lol. So i'll back off and go read about how 1/bw=coherence :-)
The rest of my main point from the other day:
There are cheap high quality optics inside the old VHS and other camcorders that are becoming more available now that solid state type cameras have come on the market. If youre willing to take one apart to get at them and dont mind going through trash sometimes to find stuff. Focusing mechanisms, negative and positive lenses with an assortment of focal lengths, most have coatings or anti-reflection coated, the big objective lenses of course - sometimes up to 2 inches diameter, first surface mirrors, varius filters and mechanical parts etc.. a treasure trove of optical stuff for practically free.
