   many thanks indeed for your suggestions. Initially, my planned goal was to do some cloud bouncing experiments, but 
now I do realize that maybe tha is a too ambitious experiment to perform as a first step in the light communication field.
I have in the meantime bought both a surplus lens (probably from a xerox copier) and a fresnel page magnifier.

I think that given the poor collimation of the light emitted from the LED, the fresnel sheet, being large, will help to 
collect the biggest part of it, and the other lens will be better used on the receiving site. If I am wrong, please 
advice, thanks.
