Lots of experiments with lasers verses less coherant lights...basically the narrowbanded, narrow beam light from laser suffers more distortion and wondering.....the fellows downunder did quite abit of work on the differences.....I did do a bit of testing, found ultraviolet light better on most paths, and any light that is outside of "normal" noise from nightlights offered better s/n.....but these were on los paths....I haven't tried any scatter stuff as that generally requires computer processing, though ice crystal scatter at the upper troposhere does seem to be present over paths that would be interesting to say the least....High power on 24ghz might should this path as possible there as well......but calculations indicate we are talking 10-20 watts of power with 35db of antenna gain....let me know when that becomes cheaply available!
of course my tests have been limited, I have parts for a couple of laser penlight transcievers, but can't even find the time to work on the mw stuff even more so the beyond mw systems!
