thanks Yves, now we have the info if its needed sometime.
It's good to know Alberto is going to make a new version of
argo sometime. It would be nice to have a real harmonic
bands display too (like i've been making with paintshop) I
had to run the entire file for each band.
At 120 sec/dots, 5 minutes of data really is not enough to
see things clearly. I feel like over 15 or 20 minutes the
lines might pop out once or twice.
Letting the moon drift across the photodetector may tend to
hide the signal since it might only appear for a minute or
so as the field of view drifts across some lunar feature
(like the Tycho area). A tracking type scope could be kept
on a specific area much longer.
Do the 50hz lines there in France or other areas of Europe
drift the same way our 60hz lines do?
I suppose there are not any countries that have a crystal
controlled power frequency. I thought maybe some countries
might synchronize the separate generation frequencies with
each other though. I have just been assuming they don't
here, and that there are separate lines from different
areas of the country. Each power generation station would
have its own frequency at any particular time, only
occasionally matching up with other stations briefly.
One way to find out would be for several people across the
country to make scans of their local power frequency (the
third harmonic say) at high resolution and at the same
time. Then compare them with each other.
One thing is for sure though: A signal with a stable
frequency output would have a major advantage over the
slowly drifting frequency of our power grids.
And like the comparison of the heliograph with the laser: a
narrow low powered beam can equal the brightness of a
larger high powered beam if it can be focused well enough.
Maybe that applies to EME too.
