hi all
i analyzed the jim moss file (22.7 meg) with argo and
posted the results here:
http://www.aladal.net/toast/temp/
i am not sure of the exact parameters of the argo program
but i think the 10 sec/dots mode is roughly equivalent to
the spectran mode operating at 0.084hz bins resolution.
Does anyone have the bin sizes or other specs for the
different modes of argo?
i noticed the power line frequency here varies quite a bit
over time, up to about 0.18 hz over an hour or so. I was
wondering if there is any effect this has on trying to use
DSP modes that have a higher resolution. The frequency
variation is increased at the higher harmonics, being about
twice that amount at 360hz.
i was thinking this variation is mostly local and that the
combined signal from a whole country might be a multitude
of lines around the main frequency, all varying
independently from each other. This effect would lead to a
broadening of the line to about 0.18hz (at 120hz line) or
about 0.36 hz at the third harmonic (360hz)
In order to take advantage of the combined signals, would
it be better to avoid using bins smaller than the total
frequency spread?
