[Laser] IR Indication?

There was an article in Electronics Now, August 1995 "Analyzing Remote
Control Output" that does something similar to what you want. 
The article has the C source listing that you would have to compile.  I
"might" have the .exe stuff somewhere if I dig....I could scan to 
PDF if you are interested....Bob..

I saw that on ebay last night, I am hoping to find something that isn't

an inexpensive kit or some shareware I can put a sensor on...  This is
exactly what I am looking for though.
