After very long tests with all the available free FFTDSP programs, the
WOLF-GUI KK7KA and DL4YHF program seems really the best for ultra low level laser
link communications especially in none line of sight.
The new batch V0,62 compiled in Jan 18 2006 is fitted with a quarter speed
mode that allows a so low detection limit that we are not able to measure it
in local tests between two PC because the cables cross talking.
We are just certain, after a 20 minutes batch, a message decoding could
occurs at less than -48 dB under a 300 Hz bandwidth !
The single critical adjustment mandatory to get the sensitivity limit is the
calibrating of both the sound cards on each PC.
The best is to use previously the calibrating function with a 144 MHz FM
radio link with a 2500 Hz calibrate tune generated by WOLF.
It is possible by this way to adjust the FFT sampling rates so the relative
frequencies accuracy stays better than 1/100 Hz at the VLF laser modulation
frequency use. (e.g. 20 to 200 Hz)
