here's a link to some info about the eclipse coming up in a
couple days:

Totality will be from 9:52ut to 11:57ut August 28th. At
that time the western US, Australia, New Zealand and Japan
will all be visible from the moon. So i think it's worth a
try listening for the 100hz and 300hz harmonics too.
One thing that might come in handy for field trips (if you
don't have a laptop handy) is a portable Digital audio - CD
or DVD recorder to record the audio in high-fi format for
later analyzing. With a dvd recorder setup, you could also
record video from a webcam, the photo-detector audio in one
audio channel and commentary in the other.
One benefit of this is that it will record the entire audio
spectrum from your detectors. So you can go back later and
look at the different frequency bands as closely as you
like without the worry you might be missing something at
some other frequency - as when done 'live' via the laptop.

According to the maps
I've seen, we should just be looking at Earth illumination
coming from the
West Coast USA. Any suggestions?
