Thanks to all who replied to my question as to whether adding narrow band optical receive filters should reduce scintillation. From my understanding of the causes of scintillation I could not see any reason myself it should help other than lowering the noise floor.  This appears to be the case from the comments received. Perhaps we just had unusually good  propagation conditions although the experiments were done over several hours in fairly hot weather.  We'll just have to collect some more data on this. The next step is to try a 50 mile daytime contact.  Thanks again for all the replies.
