Kerry,
I guess I won't get rid of my neon Budweiser beer sign after all!!!
Great experiment!!! An inspiration for everyone.

Last night I took the suggestion from Yves to try the Jason software
for communicating via flourescent and HPS lamps. I found Jason very
easy to setup and use. I moved the center frequencies to 140 Hz. In
fast speed the Rx frequency span is too large and include 120 Hz
so that was not useable. In Normal speed the total span is about 4 Hz
which rejected the local 120 Hz light modulation nicely. The Tx
signals from one laptop fell nicely into the Rx receive window on
the other and decoding took place automatically without any
intervention or sound card frequency calibration. Jason looks like
a good program for experimenting with this type of optical transmission.
