clearance on that first hill? So any trees on the hill
top may make it even closer, almost skimming the tree
tops.

>From your description, it sounds like youre going to
illuminate that top mast from underneath it at some
distance from the tower i assume. If the mast has
nothing on it to reflect the light towards the
horizon, i'm guessing most of the power is going to go
upward and very little will be sent toward the
horizon.

Anything that you could put up there on the mast would
be helpfull, like a white or metalic sphere or a 45
degree-ish angled flat white plate.

Without something better than the plain aluminium
mast, i'm guessing you'd have to resort to very slow
QRSS or some other weak signal DSP mode on the receive
end.

If you had one of those 150mw lasers with a 4 inch
lens up there or by using a remote controled mirror on
the mast to reflect it, i'd say that would get you
more than enough power to use MCW or voice on that 58
mile LOS path. My wild guess .'`'.

good luck with it

There is a 2-1/2" aluminum mast at the top of the

the path by adding 135 feet to it.
The other end of the path is Port Jefferson Station
long Island.

Here are my questions.

Does it appear to be LOS or Near LOS on this path?
If so, how much power would be needed to illuminate
the mast, to propagate to some place along that path
that is LOS.
I can point 1 to as many as 4 150 mw laser at this
mast and all can be modulated.
Any guesses as to how much power it would take to make
that path?
Would anyone give it a look/listen if I set this up as
a beacon?
Any Ideas?
