[Laser] laser diode data sheets ?

Steve,
Some of the later laser diode have improved fabrication and processes
used in their manufacture. It is possible to use these newer types of
diodes with only a limiting resistor, which is what your laser pointer does.
Be careful with the voltage and heat sink the assembly as much as
possible, and it will operate well. Don't try to get more power out
of them though...or the laser will turn into an LED.
