You want a calculator, circa 1980-1990, which were LED's. small and had
outputs for individual segments. Look at tag sales and junk shops.
You might be able to use a watch display, but these were highly integrated
and might not have the pins available for your control circuit.
I'd ask in one of the usenet newsgroups for people who might have that
stuff in their junkboxes. Surely someone who had them wouldn't expect a
high dollar compensation rate.
