[Laser] Laser injures Delta pilot's eye

I'm curious about 1 thing.....

How do they know it was a laser??? This can't be determined based on a
subjective brief sighting from an airlines cockpit. I've stood in front of
a 5 milliwatt laser at 1 mile. At night, anything blocking the beam makes a
shadow provided the users eyes are dark adapted. In daylight, one can
hardly see the beam when looking directly at it.

Clearly this was no accident and we aren't talking about milliwatt class
lasers that we play with. Even with an intentionally aimed laser, keeping
it pointed at the cockpit for more than a few milliseconds is a tall order
and is well beyond the technology that we play with as well.

If I knew the guilty party, I'd report them. This cannot be an accident or
unintentional.
