Hey Al,

I'd say you did well, congrats on another record distance there!

Yes, the 100 ohm feedback resistor makes the receiver quite deaf compared 
to the more optimum 2.2 megohm value! I wish you had a soldering iron with 
you when you attempted the QSO. If you could have gotten anything in there 
other than the 100 ohm, you probably would have made contact, even a 22K or 
100K resistor would have made a BIG difference.

Next time you get stuck like that, remove the 100 ohm resistor by cutting 
through the body of the resistor and leave the leads in place. Try wrapping 
the leads from a more appropriate resistor value. It might be intermittent 
and well less than optimum, but it will probably perform well enough to get 
your qso done.

Was it a 2 way attempt, and who was the other operator? Did both receivers 
have the 100 ohm feedback resistor?
