Hi folks,
I just boxed up my beta version of LaserScatter for you to play with. It
has been on the bench for a couple weeks now and it seems to be working
pretty well. In a nutshell, it's a communications program that uses
long-term signal averaging to send messages on non-line-of-sight
optical paths, such as cloudbounce and troposcatter. It uses the
soundcard to both send and receive in full-duplex. The software is
still very much in the beta cycle, and you can find various ways to
choke the program, though I have tried to catch some of the more
obvious ones. It has a WSJT-like interface for those of you familiar
with that program.
You'll need the Java Runtime Environment 1.4 or later to execute it, I
think (perhaps earlier will work). There's a link to that on the
homepage, along with lots of other information to get you started.
Here is the URL:

You can email me with questions--I'm sure there will be many at first.
I'll try to update the program, but with the school year starting I
won't be able to do that as often as I would like. I also have a
Powerpoint presentation that discusses some of this stuff if a little
more detail. I will try to make that available soon also.
Enjoy!
