apparently i replied to the wrong topic but it didn't
matter because i was off base about the bin sizes
anyway. I like using FFT more than i like
understanding it i guess :-)
But anyway, i think the idea for using very low
frequency subcarriers in one bit per character modes
will have an advantage over PSK31 and other similar
modes even if it's running at the same throughput -
due to the apparent higher s/n ratio at frequencies
below 100 Hz in common detectors out there. And i also
think sine waves will be the way to go - having less
wasted power and less potential for interference.
When it comes to weak signals, it's been well proven
that the lower modulation frequencies and or narrower
bandwidths are better, regardless of whether it's RF
or Lightwave type stuff.
I look forward to trying some troposcatter soon and i
finally have a beacon operating 24/7. If anyone would
