A note from Erik Olson (writer of baudline) quoted with his permission:

"I added (fixed) a feature in baudline 0.90 that might help you pull out your
laser cloud bounce signals. The old drift integrator never worked correctly
while in the record mode, now it does. This will lower the variance
(flatten) the noise floor making it easier to detect weak tones in real-time
while you are recording. I still have a ways to go inorder to optimize it
for your line of work but this is progress.

Try setting:

the overlap to 100%
the drift integrator to 4 slices (experiment, more or less might be better)

Because the noise now has less variance you can use the "color aperture"
window to squeeze down on the spectrogram color range a bit more which
should increase the color resolution...."

Erik seems interested in adapting this program for use by laser, LOWFER and
MEDFER people. Contact him if you're interested in using his software or
would like to see some changes.

Another linux program is glfer, a QRSS transmit and receive program for
linux. I haven't tried it yet....
