Check Marlin P Jones (www.mpja.com) and see what they have for converters.
I'm pretty sure they'll have what you are looking for cheap.
It's does give you 2 amps, but Jameco (www.jameco.com) has a 15 watt 9-18volt
to 24volt converter for $29.95. Part number 155694. 2 amps is a lot of juice
for a laser transceiver, what are you doing with. Peltizer cooler?
Otherwise get a cheap inverter and a standard 24 volt switch mode power
supply. That might be a little noisy...
