[Laser] backscatter?

After a long absense I am in the game again (thanks Steve!)  Having spent the 
afternoon putting together a new RX, I  just did some basice checks to see if 
it works.  It does!  Now that I know its basic operation is OK I can complete 
the shielding and get it behind a nice lens.

While fooling with that, I pointed my He-Ne off into the snowy night with 
~600 Hz modulation (chopper) and got some fascinating reflections.

Has anyone experimented with backscatter, either from solid objects or 
otherwise?  I will be looking for ways to entertain myself until I can scare 
up another player in the area.

Gotta go eat some fruit so I can have the can for a shield!     :)
