Hi. Long time Lafayette lover and collector here.

I know this is a LONG shot, but.......

Does anyone out there have an HA-700 'parts radio'????

I am in the process of restoring a stunning HA-700 but some of the dial
lettering has peeled away from the glass. What the #$%^&* were they
thinking, using that fragile, water based stuff?
I have an Allied A-2515 and it's dial markings are PAINT!

Anyway, I would like to purchase another HA-700 with a GOOD dial.
Condition of the rest of the radio really NOT important. I have
"HA-700" saved as a 'favorite search' on ePay, er, eBay.

Will pay $$$$$. I am VERY picky.

What I will do with the radio that gets my 'flaky dial' ?? (ha ha) It
will get a N3ZI Digital Dial.

I have already done this to one of my HE-80s and a HA-63. They look and
work super! Although NOT original, it's still better than parting them
out for the loss of some numbering!

Also, does anyone have a paint match for the Lafayette 'Teal"??? I have
some rattle can stuff that's close. I went to the local
Sherwin-Williams store to see if they could make me a case of spray
cans to match, but they "don't do that anymore".....
I have painted about 20 of my receivers with a VERY close Krylon color.
Unfortunately, I used the LAST can I had yesterday, and they have
discontinued that color.
Following is a list of paint and how it matches:

Krylon #3512 Sage Satin. Although Satin, I spray Clear over it and it
looks good. A 'little' too green........

Krylon #1904 Teal Blue Gloss. This is new. Close, but a little too
blue.........

No other paint companies (at least around here) can come any closer.

I bought the #3512 at a K-Mart in Gainesville. I bought every can they
had. We don't have a local store, they closed before I moved here.

Anybody want some spray painting 'tips'? I have probably used several
thousand cans in my lifetime and have 200+ here now. There have been
some recent advances in rattle cans in the recent past. It is VERY easy
to get a great finish, if you're careful. ha ha

tnx fer the time
ron
