Hi. I rescued a sad looking HA-460, 6 Meter AM radio. It came with a
W7FG manual. Unfortunately, it came without the power cords.
On the schematic, someone has penciled in:
AC Cord........Pins #1 and #3 to 115 VAC
Jumper pins #4 and #5
DC Cord........Pins #6 and #7 to 12 VDC (doesn't say which is + or -,
but there is a polarity switch)
Jumper pins #8 and #9
I configured it for AC (briefly), but no lights or filaments (but no
smoke either!!)
Would one of you fine folks out there, please take a look inside of the
shell on your AC and DC Cords and give me the scoop???
Because this radio uses a 'universal supply', I don't just want to
start putting 115 VAC on pins 'till it works.
BTW, back in the early 70s, I bought one of these brand new. I used to
go 'hilltopping' on the various mountain tops around where I lived back
in Mass and New Hampshire. I used a collapsible 3 element made by
Henry, (W1NEV) of Hi-Par antennas. I can honestly say that in all my 47
years of hamming, that was the most fun I have ever had! AM was still
king on 6 Meters, but SSB was starting to catch on. I still have 2 of
those 6 Meter beams. NICE design, Henry, RIP!!!
This HA-460 came from a town VERY close to where I used to live in
Mass. It may be my own radio. But it sure wasn't taken care of the way
I take care of my radios.
Thanks in advance!!
