[Lafayette] Activity??

I sold them for 20 plus years (was Lafayette's longest part-time person)
and also did much of the NJ service on all their house branded stuff.
Still have many of the service parts and probably one of the largest
collections of original Lafayette manuals that still exists today.. The
majority of the short wave/amateur receivers were designed by Trio so you
wouldn't see many differences in typical design layouts. Most of the
solid-state stuff was designed and manufactured by other vendors. The
HA-350 was one exception in their design strategy. This came around the
time of mixer front ends, no RF stage, and pre-selector front panel
adjustments. It also was touted as "wow, for using a mechanical filter.
The mechanical filter was also sold separately anywhere from $7.95 and,
at the end of its life-cycle, $3.95. Even had instructions on how to
replace your 1st IF can with one of these filters. Cost to manufacture
this "impressive" mechanical filter was a whopping $1.38.

As I type, I'm listening to a Lafayette quad 8-track tape player playing
through my 70's Lafayette 4 channel receiver.

Having had to repair many kit version (KT-320's) of the HE-30, you would
be amazed how many different ways "kit builders" could screw up an
assembly even with the assembly instructions in front of them.
