Les:
I'm pointing my response back to the reflector with some history.

Your Lafayette meter is model 38-0101. It was made by Accurate
Instruments, NY. Accurate was formerly called Superior Instruments. As
far as I can remember, Lafayette nor Accurate, ever assigned a specific
alphanumeric model number to this unit. The 38-0101 was actually the
catalog number. The meter first came out in January 1958 under Superior
Instruments, Model 77. April, 1961, introduced both the Accurate and the
Lafayette models, 152 and 38-0101 respectively. Originally had 3 tubes,
two 9006's (single rectifier types) and one 12AU7. It later evolved into
two tubes, 5726 (dual rectifier like a 6AL5) and a 6211/6189/12AU7 type.
Somewhere around 1965/66, the two 9006's were replaced with the single
5726.
