[Lafayette] Still works

I even forgot that I was subscribed to the list!

I have a Lafayette HA-650 6m rig and a HE-50 10m rig.

Just after I got my license in 1968 I had a HA-650. I was sitting on my 
parents driveway (in Peoria IL.) talking to a person in N.J. running a 
watt and a half and just the whip on the HA-650!  It was like talking 
to a local on 2m FM now.

The HE-50 is in the process of getting re-caped for use 10m AM and 
specifically for use on the CCA's 10m AM net which we hope to
get back on the air in the near future.

We used to have a Lafayette Radio Associate Store here in Peoria.  It 
was an interesting place and after I told my parents where it was (a 
mistake) I was not allowed to go there alone again.   I did a few times 
but only during broad daylight!
