How about an informal poll- what about the repeater
you use the most often? Where does it fall?

A. substantial backup power and "commercial grade"
equipment. Talk on it for two weeks if you care to,
rain, shine, wind or water makes no diffence.

B. enough battery for an hour or two and a "ham" grade
antenna on a "pretty good" tower/structure. The
transmitter gets "hot" after an hour or two of heavy
use.

C. No back up power, since the electricity hasn't been
off more than an hour all year. We don't see much
emergency traffic anyway.

D. Two mobiles on a power supply, and an
antenna/structure no one will climb. "Covers" a ten
mile radius, if you don't talk too long.

F. Quit working and no one cares to fix it.

There is no need to name any specific site or call,
and please don't pick on anyone's machine. Just rate
the one you use the most with a grade. Let's see what
the score is for our existing infrastructure.

I'll start by rating my usual machine at an A-.
